Steph Cloutier
Artist member since 2020
Toronto, Ontario
Steph Cloutier is a francophone artist based in Toronto, Canada. She received her Bachelors of Fine Art with Distinction from OCAD University with a focus on sculpture, installation and textiles. As an interdisciplinary artist, her practice looks at themes of repair as acts of resistance and futility and uses embroidery and paper as her tools. She has participated in a few residencies in Toronto, Canada and Naples, Italy.
Her thread drawings explore aspects of architecture, history, memory and space. Initially inspired by a trip to Italy, her pieces explore the layers of history in built-up layers of thread. All hand-stitched, her drawings become ethereal, imagined yet familiar cityscapes that play with colour, scale, and repetition.
